Had to rebook my vacation twice as it was originally scheduled for almost 3 months after my application.

Needed to get my local MLAs office involved twice until finally the application was transferred to my local province for printing. I was contacted by people from my local passport office (which is about a 4hr drive away) before and during the process to inform them that I would be unable to pick it up in person. Both times they agreed to mail it out.

So I had to reschedule by vacation a second time when they never mailed it out and let it sit in the office for 2 weeks. Finally it was rushed to me on Aug 12 and I finally received it within a few hours if my flight. I was literally an hour away from cancelling our vacation altogether.

Absolutely pathetic service when it take 1/3 of a year to get a child’s passport (her 3rd passport btw). After applying for it. Zero excuses, the worst communication I’ve ever had to deal with, and no way to contact them. I had made over 800 phone calls to the passport office during this time and was met with the same “all out operators are busy, please try again later” message before being disconnected. Luckily this has finally changed, but not before I wasted countless hours making phone calls to find out where my daughters passport was.

There was also a form online I could fill out that would let me know her application status within 3 days. So I filled that out…..and received a response 3 MONTHS later!

It was an absolute horrible experience and I’ve never had to deal with so many incompetent people in my life during this process. An absolute embarrassment for our country as I’m sure I’m not the only one who experience similar issues.

It was a long , stressful and tedious process . Canada is a developed country so we would have expected more efficiency and accountability. Other lesser countries can issue passports way faster so I don’t think the waiting time for a passport is acceptable for Canada .

I had to call the hotline 3 times just to get my daughter’s passport moved up. The first 2 times it was being reviewed and the calls were 2 months apart . Really inefficient !

I’m glad it’s done though
